The history of the species 'Hupfdohle' already starts in 1987. Thus we are one the oldest gay/lesbian sportclubs in Germany - and the first who used gay and lesbian in it´s name.
Some gay men from Bonn 'organized' a gym to play Volleyball (saturday 2-5 p.m.).
1988
December
For the first time we are participating in a gay Volleyball-tournament wich is held in Amsterdam (Netzo).
1989
March
In front of the tournament in Cologne the name Bonner Hupfdohlen was born.
June
We decide to start at GayGames III in Vancouver/Canada with one team.
Sept. 2nd 1989
'Birthday' of 'Bonner Hupfdohlen' - gay and lesbian sportclub as an registrated association.
December
Our gym is occupied as emergency accommodation for people from east germany.
1990
January
We get a new gym at the University of Bonn with support of the students parliament (Saturday 9-11 a.m.) and make an application for membership in WVV (Westgerman Volleyball Association).
January
Foundation of EGLSF (European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation) in Paris. Of course we were present.
August
GayGames III in Vancouver/Canada. Eight Hupfdohlen are playing in division C until the eighthfinal.
December
The Volleyball Association did not answer our application for membership until yet, so we menanced them to go to court to fight for our rights. Few weeks later they turn down our application.
We menanced them again, not only with a lawyer but with the press (radio and newspapers). Suddenly there was no problem to become member in the WVV, which is important to get support.
1992
Eastern
The first tournament in Bonn organized by us. 18 teams from all over europe participating. A great success for us. In the victory-ceremony our 'QUEENS-CUP' goes to Bremen.
February
First meeting to found a gay volleyball league in germany. Because there where too many teams in the B-division, a qualification-tournament in Düsseldorf saw the Hupfdohlen on the first rank. Thats why we starting the league in division A.
1993
Januar
Establishing a second Volleyball-groupe especially for beginners.
April - October
The gay volleyball-league starts quiet well for the Hupfdohlen. After the first day we where leading the table and in the end we where the first german gay volleyball champion. Okay, Vorspiel Berlin I (our hardest competitor) couldn´t play at the last day. Because of that they lost all the games they had to play at that day.
May
Again a tournament in Bonn. Especially and only for beginnerteams. The first tournament of this kind. 12 Teams.
1993/1994
October - March
Paricipation in the regular ('straight') Volleyball-League.
1994
April - September
After the disolution of our A-Level-Team we started again in the C-division.
1994
May
Establishing a wandergroupe. Once a month we´re enjoying the nature around Bonn. We also tried to establish a swiming-groupe, but it doesn´t run.
1995
January
Bowlingplayers from Koblenz joined the Hupfdohlen and started at the EuroGames in Frankfurt.
April - September
Participating in the gay Volleyball-league in the Division C-South. During the year the team dissolved.
EuroGames IV in Berlin (Volleyball, Bowling and Ballroomdancing). We won two silver- and three broncemedals in dancing.
Santa Claus
At last another tournament in Bonn. 12 Teams reached for gold - Bonn won bronce. For the first time there was a team from easterneurope (Poland) participating in a gay tournament.
1997
May - Oktober
With a new team we started again in the league. 1st rank in the gay Volleyball-League Level C. So next year we will start in B level.
